Good News Bad News

The bad news is that I only managed a measly 39 miles last week but the good news is I managed 14 miles Sunday morning with only slight ankle pain and that was after 9 miles, so compared to last week things appear to be getting better. This week my target will be 60 miles but the 60 miles have got to be relative pain free or better still pain free altogether.
The thought of doing some cross training isn't very appealing at the moment which is probably down to having spent 4 months already this year doing just that whilst waiting for my injured ankle to get better. In between some short steady paced runs I'll opt for some rest and relaxation so when my ankle is good to go again I'll be highly motivated to get those long steady runs in the bank ready for winter.
By the time my ankle gets better it will be time for my annual summer holiday which usually results in me doing next to no running and eating and drinking excessively. I start off with good intentions with just having cereal for breakfast, a light snack for lunch and a 3 course meal for dinner. By the end of the week I have cereal, toast, omelettes, croissants and a full English for breakfast, a 3 course lunch and about a 7 course meal for dinner and then somehow around 4 o'clock in the afternoon get a craving for some coffe and a cake. The Wetherby 10k is just after that so I should be looking to roll round in a time of around 40 minutes if I'm lucky but if it's pain free I'll take that.

It's a good job I do or I would be bankrupt on my return. Maybe I should think about going self catering and not taking any money.
