All systems go.

I took a rest day after the Kilburn 7 miler to give my foot some time to heal. This worked perfectly because on Tuesday I ran to work and back again totaling 18 miles, the feet were ok but overall I was totally stuffed by the time I collapsed through the door. It's just a case of getting used to the mileage again, then on the Wednesday it was time for some speed work down at the club. 600 metres effort by 2 minutes rest with 8 of these to do, but after doing 5 reps a 400 metre sprint was thrown in by Club coach Rob Burn then returning back to finish the 600 metre efforts. The change of speed, the time spent running hard and the previous days mileage all added up for one hell of a tough session.
Then today it was an easy 6 miler followed by cycling to and from work and Finally the weekly gym session which went really well with some more personal bests.
It is a return back to the Blacksheep Race Series Championship this Sunday at Burton Leonard for a 10k multi terrain race. I'm not sure if this course is slightly long or just hard but it's a race I do like, probably a welcome change after so much road running. The final race is in September which I need to do to qualify as I missed two races early on in the series, the race being the Wetherby 10k, I should be starting to get some form back by then after six weeks of good training and with the Teespride 10k the week before Wetherby it should set me up nicely.
The Pinchinthorpe Plod Fell Race is looking tempting next Tuesday night, I will just have to see how I feel after recovering from Sunday's race.

What on earth is your weekly volume in hours?

For this winter I intend to do the following.
Mon - 50mins + 1hr 10mins
Tue - 50mins + 1hr 10mins
Wed - Cycle 1hr + 1hr
Thu - 50mins + cycle 1hr + Gym 1hr
Fri - 50mins + 50mins
Sat - 1hr
Sun - 3hr

The last time I tried a winter like this I had nothing but colds and sickness bugs. Last year on fifty miles I just had one cold in 10 months and went just as well. So what do you do ? That's right ! Go for the hardest choice and pray.

My mileage is 50-60, but I know that there's some gym work that needs to be done. Anymore than that and I become injury prone. Frankly I'd be pleased on 10 hours a week. I think it's time to take up some rowing in the gym.

Do you sleep 10 hours a day, or simply find a quiet corner at work on an afternoon (as I do sometimes).

Well done today by the way!
