Dewsbury 10k - Good to be back

After a sleepless night and an early morning start i was just looking forward to getting this race started. Because as soon as i hear that starters gun, all of my pre-race problems vanish, the cold, rivals, any slight injuries all just vanish in a split second. Today my nerves were due to the need to set a good time in the knowledge of what ever time i could run would determine how fast i am likely to go this season and after a bad club time trial i just didn't want another big slip up.
The race started and i managed to control my start as i tucked in behind a large group of runners at the head of the field, i almost made it to the two mile mark before falling off the pace at the back of the leading pack which in turn seemed to make another two runners drop off the pace. The race route climbs up to the 5km mark and then you do a 'u' turn and run the 5km back down to the finish. The last kilometre up hill i managed to drop one competitor and latch onto the back of another, then on the return i attacked and managed to drop the runner i was with and then i set my sights on the next runner ahead. It was a large gap to close and i managed to make some ground back but then my legs started to tighten up, i pushed on as hard as i could but the gap was staying the same. I crossed the line in 9th place, in 32 minutes 11 seconds.
First 5km uphill = 15 mins 52 seconds Last 5km down hill = 16mins 19 secs.
Oh ! Not forgetting first male V40. ( I know ! I don't look it. ) I know i thought he was alot older i hear you say. Cheeky.
By this result i am sure a sub 31 minute 10k will be within my capability this season.
Good to be back racing and i'm now looking forward to the Cross Country race next weekend.

Adidas Adistar Pro Shoes Tested -
1.Too light not enough cushioning not even for 10k.
2.These shoes won't last a third of a racing season never mind a full season.
3.Look proefessional.
Overall verdict - Get them Mizuno's idatens ordered. I'm waiting at the moment to see if a new model comes out , but time is running out, i may need to settle for the bright yellow and red option but i know they will be perfect for all road races, whatever the weather or distance.
