I thought that I had re-damaged my ankle running home from work on Tuesday evening but it now appears that the pain I was experiencing was a sign that I was doing too much too soon. Having spent some time being able to run at a steady pace with no pain then suddenly experiencing some pain my immediate thoughts were to think of the worst. It's looking like it will be a long time before I will be able to run without continually worrying about my ankle but it's a small price to pay for just being able to run.
Funnily enough the extra time spent running instead of weight training lasted for a whole two days so it didn't take long at all to get back into the weight training routine. I managed a quick go on the treadmill to see how the ankle was tonight and from those results I will pencil in a tempo session for Saturday on the treadmill just in case I need to bail out, but to be honest I'm sure everything will be ok.
