Looking For A Good Time.

I have left the Yellow and Blue Army of Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers and I have now joined the Black and Yellow Legions of North York Moors AC. I can't say I will be of much use to them at the moment but hopefully in the near future I can put that right.
Last week during my steady training runs from work I would come to a hill and ease back, which was more to do with lack of fitness than anything else but today on the same hills I am able to pick up the effort and drive myself onwards and upwards which is a good sign of things improving. I'm planning on doing my hilly 22 mile training route on Good Friday which has some serious 1 mile plus steep climbs in it and if I manage to get round without walking then it will be Bloody Great Friday.
I'm starting another diet from today seeing as my last diet three weeks ago ended with me putting a kilogram on, the temptation of pies, biscuits, Muller rices and beer got the better of me. Not all at the same time I must point out that now that would be one serious freaky smoothie. I need to loose around 12lb but I will settle with 7lb  as that would make me  the same weight as last year.
I now need a qualifying time for next years London Marathon if I'm to get a British Championship Entry so I'm on the look out for a fast half marathon course to get the qualification time of sub 75 minutes, I have until the end of 2011 so at least I have plenty of time. The Redcar Half Marathon which is mid June might be worth a go now even if it's just to get that qualification time.

Good to see that you're making good progress Gary. I needed to shift a few pounds last year and used the Diet Chef meal system. They send you pretty much all you need to eat for a month and it just needs re-heating. You add your own fruit and veg etc and I generally found the food quite tasty, losing 20lbs in all. Their website is www.dietchef.co.uk if you want to have a look.

It's always a difficult decision to leave a club. I know having switched several times in 48 years; but you have to do what you think is best for yourself.
With 18th in the Northern 12 man relay and 50th in the National relay NYM obviously have a good team spirit and that element of team competition can only serve to enhance your race experiences with the relays; besides seeing you win a few team prizes in local races.
Hope the move goes well, Gary.
All the best, Terry L.
