Training to run slower to go faster.

Everything went according to plan this morning with a steady twenty mile run. It's been quite some time since I last did a twenty miler and I was a bit shocked with how well I coped with the distance. It took around two and half hours which probably explains why I found it quite easy and enjoyable. In the past I found myself getting sucked in to doing my long runs too fast and then wasting valuable time recovering afterwards, also the long run would become something to dread rather than something to look forward to. That is why I'm training myself to run slower on the long run so come tomorrow I will be fully fit and raring to go again and be capable of doing a speed session if required.
