Dreadmiller

Treadmill interval training was on the pain menu today. Due to having no track or someone to train with i find the dreadmill excellent for pushing me to my limits. My P.B. interval session is 3 min 30 secs at 16 km/hour at 6% gradient by 1 min 30 sec rest x 10 reps. Today i managed 3 mins by 2 mins so i'm starting to get somewhere near, but i want to beat that and beat it well and truly. By the end of 2009 i need to get under 31 minutes for 10k and i'll be aiming for a sub 2 hour 25 minute marathon.
I have booked into the same Hotel as last year for the Marathon at Edinburgh and at £640 for two nights for two rooms seems expensive to me. But since then i have looked into renting an apartment which someone kindly recommended a while ago on my blog. For a modern apartment with 2 double bedrooms just off Princess Street works out at £450. So i might cancel the hotel.
I did feel a tad sorry for the dog today, it was waiting by its lead ready to go running but as i was going to the gym i had to leave it behind, it watched me go from the front room window with its sad eyes, i almost changed my mind and went back but i thought sod it, it didn't come out before Christmas in the freezing rain to keep me company.
I trawled the Internet for some lightweight race trainers and the options are very limited indeed. I find the right shoe but in a terrible bright colour, or the make is not available in my size or the right size and colour but doesn't suit my running style. Not to worry if that's the only problem i've got, i can live with that.
Back to a plus 20 miler tomorrow and looking forward to it, rain, snow or shine bring it on.
I've been keeping a track on some local rivals and they're going really well at the moment, to well really. Mike Burrett Leeds City, Andy Hilton York, Alec Duffield Loftus, all have very impressive recent results, there's only Ian Fisher of Otley that seems to be suffering from lack of enthusiasm but i have no doubt what so ever he will soon be back to his best at the the right time of the season.

If you haven't paid for your hotel yet then I recommend you try the Knight's Residence. It's within 10 minutes walk from Princess Street, is clean quiet and very good value. It's also self-catering, so a 5.30am breakfast is no problem.
