Day in the hills.

I had a last minute change of plan for today's training route and instead took on a seriously hilly 16 mile route which I have done in the past many times so I have plenty of data to compare my results with. From the off the wind was quite blustery to say the least but I had in my mind that at least I would have a good tail wind for the last 6 miles. After a couple of miles the wind seemed to gradually fade away and it wasn't until I turned at 10 miles that I suddenly realised the wind hadn't faded at all and it was going to be a tough last 6 miles off road back to the finish. The last time I ran this route 3 weeks ago I finished in a time of just under 2hrs 3 minutes with the last few miles at crawling speed, today I managed 1 hr 51 minutes 5 secs which is a massive improvement and only 3 minutes 30 secs off my best.
With a few races on the calendar this weekend that I have done in the past i.e. Kirkbymoorside 10k, Fountains 10k and the Teesbarrage 10k it will be interesting to see the results to see how the competition is matching up.

That's really encouraging Gary especially with the strong wind we've got today. Seems we're both improving - albeit to different standards! Well done and keep at it, John

Thanks John.
Just so long as we are improving, that's the main thing.
