I might be struggling getting back into the routine of training but today's training went really well for some strange reason. The speed session today was max speed for 1 minute with 3 minutes recovery with 12 of these to do. Having done this session loads of times on the treadmill I know exactly what I'm capable of and I wasn't far off my best, I know I've a long way to go on the endurance side of things but that was a much needed boost.
I had a look for some good races which should help me focus more with the winter training. The Gateshead Cross Challenge should be good with it being a national event, racing and watching the other races. I'm considering doing an indoor track race in November but unsure if I should go for the 1500mtr race or the 3000mtr, the 1500mtr might be just too short and too fast but on the other hand a good eye balls out race with no pressure to do well sounds good. Then there is the Thirsk 10 miler, which is also the Northern Championships, Yorkshire Championships and the Yorkshire Vets Championships. Finally there is the Ribble Valley 10k which is also a Northern Championship race at the end of December.
I've planned a two hour multi terrain route for Sunday to make the run more enjoyable, there's a time for long hard boring training runs and thankfully that time is along way off at the moment.
