I know it's the right thing to take a break from training for at least a week or so as to prevent over training or becoming burnt out which then can take months to come back from but it's bloody hard work doing the long runs even at an easyish pace. Today's 15 miles of running was no different and with trying to loose the added holiday pounds it makes the last few miles even harder as I'm running on empty with no fuel left in the tank. Probably not the best idea but if your planning to break some of your PB's then suffering and pain has to be accepted.
I must be on my third autumn/winter training plan by now as I keep changing my mind on weather to copy last years plan with the extra weight training sessions or switch the hour weight training for just 20 minutes and then do some cross training for 40 minutes, at the moment the latter plan is looking more favourable. For the next 5 months instead of the twice weekly speed session I will only be doing one and swapping the other for a hardish hill training session. It will be good to see next year how this training works out, the need for doing something different certainly helps me get through the winter training.
