I tried something different this week and replaced quantity with quality, I added an extra speed session and pushed myself to my absolute limits on my usual speed sessions which has pushed me over the edge and left me feeling extremely fatigued. I might be feeling totally knackered and the thought of a hilly 22 miler tomorrow isn't doing much for me at the moment but at least the training sessions are now getting even closer to my all time bests. The Thirsk 10 miler is at the end of the month which I'm really looking forward to seeing as it is the Northern Championships, Yorkshire Championships and Yorkshire Vets Championships as well as it being a good as time as any to try and beat my best time of 51 minutes 40 seconds for 10 mile. (weather permitting).
The training today was supposed to be slightly easier than normal to try and get my energy levels back up, my plan was to knock the gradient level down three levels but up the speed by 1 km/h and to be honest the venture into uncharted waters made the training session just as hard as it would of been in the first place. The sauna afterwards was well worth all the extra effort mentally as well as physically, Oh! and this year I have entered the Jolly Holly Jog 10k organised by Ripon Runners which I have not done for some time now, I was thinking of doing one of the other 10k races at Leyland or Clitheroe but I feel enjoyment should be higher on my priority list at Christmas than putting pressure on myself trying to beat my 10k PB on fast flat courses. I will save myself for tht job in February at Dewsbury.
