5 weeks to Marathon Debut.

Saturday - I decided to run round the Carlton Challenge Fell Race route twice for my training this weekend, in preparation for the fell race on Tuesday evening. I dug my fell shoes out of the back of the garage and in doing so i unfortunately had to evict two spiders from their home. The damn things must of shrunk and the material had turned into some sort of unsupple hide. But this wasn't going to put me off, so after forcing my feet in off i went to the location. the first lap went as planned and the second lap i was going to do a good tempo run but my legs decided to go all heavy on me half way round. On the final descent back down to the finish i stumbled and bringing my left foot through quickly to counteract the falling motion i smashed my big toe into a boulder and over i went. I hobbled onwards and finished in 39 Mins 30 secs which wasn't to bad for a second lap, at a steady training pace. The big toe had a good chunk of flesh missing and most of my other toes have blisters on the ends due to them pesky shrunken fell shoes. No excuses, i'll be there Tuesday in some new fell shoes.(Hopefully)

I weighed in and i'm only three pounds over weight now compared to the six at Hartlepool. My interval training sessions are building up nicely and i'm almost as quick as last year now. By the time Edinburgh Marathon comes round i should surpass last years speed.

I have studied my close rivals results at the London Marathon and will use this knowledge in my plans for my Marathon Debut.
I tested out my new fell/trail shoes ready for Tuesdays race and all is looking good for the battle ahead. I just need a good team turn out now to compete for the team prize, and that would finish a good week off.
