Two in Two

Another fine day for running at the Tees Barrage 10k. More of a multi-terrain course than an all out fast road 10k, but none the less a very enjoyable route around the Tees Barrage. They must of had a production line making marshalls as i have never seen so many, but with my abilities to get lost i certainly appreciated every one of them. With my legs a bit stiff from yesterdays race i attacked after the first 500 metres in the hope to gain enough lead before my legs gave in. After the 3km mark i had only a small lead on Terry Wall and Paul Lowe but i pushed on hoping to gain some more time. They 5km went by in 15 mins 44 secs which i was pleased with, then as i expected my legs started to stiffen up. Around the 7km mark i had chance to see my advantage as i crossed the bridge over the river, the gap over Terry and Paul was enough to boost my morale as i pressed on to take my second win in two days, in 32 mins 12 seconds. Terry was not far behind and Paul Lowe finishing strong right behind him.
With a Harrogate League Race tomorrow i was toying with the idea of going for three in three seeing as Ian Fisher is injured. But to be honest i can hardly walk never mind bloody run. So a rest it is. Next Sundays Ripon 10 miler should be intreseting with the new route being part cross country. I might try it like a triathlon, changing shoes instead of events. Set off in spikes, at the start of the road section switch to all out road racing shoes and finally finish off in a pair of multi terrain shoes. And just hope not to loose to much time changing.

Hi Gary, Thanks for your support concerning my injury. It's around the inner to quad part of my right leg. I have been trying to focus on the marathons instead of the other stuff which include the HL. Jon Orange was quite arrogant after his win on Tuesday about beating you and me. He didn't look fast.
I'm still not quite over the injury yet. If I cannot do Windermere next weekend I will stop running and go onto biking until I've recovered. Yes, it's a shame about not racing each other. Norman Smith told me about your 2 x 10k victory's. Nothing wrong in that.
Jamil is still out of it. Still runs now and then. He has a new responsible post as language teacher at a new school.
Anyway, well done in your recent 10k victory's.
