The feet are slowly getting better as my fitness slips away but at least I should be able to run at the Rainton 10k with only slight discomfort rather than the sheer pain I suffered in last weekends race. I will be going for my four mile pre-race run tonight to see how the feet are doing. I can accept some decline in performance just so long as I can get back running. On a positive side at least I should be keen and fresh for the race on Sunday and my finishing time will let me know exactly what sort of shape I'm in at the moment.
Burn Valley Half Marathon the week after is looking a bit daunting with next to no training done since the Edinburgh Marathon four weeks ago, I think the distance will probably catch me out and a hard days running looks to be on the cards but either way I will be looking forward to the challenge.
With not being able to run each day after work it is quite relaxing knowing I can put my feet up as soon as I get home but at the same time it's depressing missing out on being able to get out running in the countryside, just as I thought the roller coast ride of running was leveling out as well.
I spent my running shop vouchers from the Edinburgh Marathon as soon as I received them to assist in cheering myself up a bit. Shorts, Vest , T-Shirt and some new Asics spikes ready for the cross country season which will need to be tested out. I seem to of been picking blisters up galore recently with Mizuno footwear so I will now be looking for an alternative. Asics where once my favoured choice but they seemed too expensive, now the cost outways the cost of not running so Asics I think it is. Oh ! Not forgetting the new Blacksheep Series T-shirt that I've ordered as well to add to my collection.
Only a week to go for the start of the Tour De France which I never miss, and with Sky+ I will be able to watch even more than usual. The first week of the race will be even more interesting now that the Brits have some excellent time trialists and the best sprinter in the world. Lance Armstrong is back this year but in a supportive role and so therefore is not one of the favourites to win. Myself I can't see him taking any bit of notice of his team leader and the old war horse will be on the attack, making one hell of a battle all the way to Paris.
