I had the privilege of finishing work early today but the down side was a visit to the local hospital with a crushed finger. The machine I was modifying managed to crush my finger end and split it open. All I can say is "That bloody hurt." After getting it stuck back together they advised on resting for three or four days, errr! Don't think so ! Burn Valley Half Marathon Sunday. Then just to cheer me up a bit more I have been tipped off that Ian Fisher is in top form after seeing him blast off into the distance at the Harrogate evening league fixture last night. Not that I had any hope of beating him this Sunday anyway.
I definitely won't be able to run with this great big dressing they have put on my finger, and a home made aerodynamic dressing will be fitted ready for the race. At the moment I'm not sure which is worse the pain or the throbbing hopefully the throbbing will stop by Sunday.
More good news is Andrew Halliday who was fourth at the Rainton 10k is joining Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers, he mainly competes in triathlons and has only recently returned back to running so after a good winters training he will be even better than he is now and I have no doubt will be winning races. Another triathlete I have been trying to recruit is Rob Addyman who is also a great runner, I almost succeeded last cross country season and this season I will try again.
York it is for tomorrows trip for some new training shoes and if Darran Bilton of Leeds City is working in the Up and Running shop then he had better give me some good discount seeing as I let him beat me at the Rainton 10k. A good number of runners have commented if I was on form I would of beaten him but even if I was in better than top form I would of still been at least thirty seconds behind. But what I can do is try and up my game this winter and revenge will be driving me through those wet, dark, and cold training sessions.
