Work it.

" Great training plans only work if you do the work "

Just another phrase I have modified slightly for the benefit of fellow runners, Oh ! and myself.

Early morning snow runs with cross training in the evening might just be the way forward for me for a while, I'm now hoping the snow will  be with us until early March that way I might just be able to get one step ahead of my rivals if they are unable to train. I didn't really fancy running tonight in the freezing slippery slush especially after being out in the cold all day at work but I was looking forward to getting to the gym and trying out some new weight lifting exercises using less weight than usual and concentrating more on technique. My purpose for weight lifting is being to strengthen any weak links that might help with the running and also to make muscles more capable of shifting lactic acid. Along with many other benefits my favourite is  being to make sure I don't look like some of those top runners who when on holiday sunbathing  look like they have starved to death.

I agree, there's always something that can be done to improve your running even if you can't get out to run. I find the regular weight training makes a welcome change from slushy pavements. The thought of your rivals not getting out to train is a great confidence boost.
