Limbo

No racing, no training and too much drink has left me feeling totally knackered, it will be good to get back into training mode again then at least I have a reason for being knackered. Due to severe icy roads the Thirsk 10 mile race had to be cancelled ( -14 degrees last night at Topcliffe which is just down the road) and seeing as I had planned to race all the training since Thursday has been easy or missed all together in preparation to ensure I was ready to race. So unfortunately I was left in limbo but on a positive note at least I'm keen and fully fit ready for my next training session. I will try a bit of a snow run in the morning on my way to work followed up with some new training ideas and lifting exercises at the gym after work so that should be a training session to look forward to. The week ahead will be challenging if it's anything like earlier this year with all the ice and compacted snow, the long run becomes a real task rather than enjoyment.
I have just ordered a Garmin GPS watch which I will be using to train and get used to the paces I will be expecting to run at next years London marathon, even though it's now looking like I may not get the chance to test it out on my long runs for some time due to all this bleeding snow. Luckily there's plenty of time yet and besides it's a bit early to be knocking out some fast paced long runs.
