I completed my usual Saturday morning hill training session and as the weeks go by the session gets steadily harder and yet again after today's session I went for a sauna. When doing a marathon in hot conditions and you start to feel red hot, drained, your struggling with your breathing, you feel weak and dizzy plus you are thirsty as hell and you wonder how on earth you can carry on, well that's how it feels in the sauna after a hard training session. Fantastic.
This week I have eased back slightly on the mileage and to keep things ticking along nicely I reducing my long run tomorrow down to two hours but I will try and up my effort slightly as I will need some energy left to get to the bar at the Blacksheep Race Series presentations tomorrow afternoon.
It's a pity I can't say the dieting is going as well as the training and it's not through lack of trying. After feeling like I was about to starve to death all week I put on a pound, now what the hell is that all about ? Must be a middle age spread thing as I can't blame the scales as I must of bought the most expensive ones I could find last time to prevent any misunderstandings. I say misunderstandings as them scales just don't understand me as when I get on them and say surely I must of lost at least a couple of pounds this time they never agree with me.
Next week I will try and knock out another 100 miles I say try as words are cheap compared to actually completing the miles. By the end of a high mileage week my joints need at least 2 miles into each run before they feel something like normal and after sitting around for a while it looks like I'm about 100 years old for the first few steps.
