Plan B

During yesterdays pre-race training session my ankle started to give me some stick when I cranked the speed up, I have had this injury before and I could of managed to race with it but then I would of had to take it easy for a week or two so back it was case of switching back to the long run routine. Having taking it quite easy yesterday it should of made today's steady long run all that bit easier so plan B was to take on the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles. I set off early so I could catch the best of the weather and I was rewarded with three hours of non stop rain. Two hours fifty seven minutes it took me and to be honest the last five miles were really hard going, was it the rain or just the distance that made it such hard work or maybe just early days in my training plan either way all I can say is this marathon training doesn't half require some suffering one way or another.
Next Sunday I will try reducing the mileage/hours running and up the pace slightly, I shall tackle the same route as I did about 5 weeks ago to see how my training is coming along. It's also the Blacksheep Series Presentations so my diet will have to take a back seat once again but I am looking forward to a good old Sunday lunch with a few beers.
So with a rest day and easy day and the Plan B training I have managed to take my running miles to 85 for this week which is more than good enough as far as I'm concerned.
