After twelve weeks of good hard training I'm now on the very edge of equaling and beating my best training performances all that is left to do now is convert the training into some good race times. I won't be going daft with too much racing as I will be looking to push my training boundaries to a all new level all together, less is definitely more in racing terms. Having kept training diaries since 2005 I can clearly see how my training is going compared to race times and by my calculations I reckon I am in 31 minute 30 second 10k territory and over the next few weeks will hopefully be venturing into pastures new.
The sauna sessions seem to be getting easier at times and it does make me wonder if it would help during a marathon on hot day, weather it's coping with a slightly higher temperature on race day or if you have raced too hard then lasting an extra 5 minutes before going into overheat mode. Who knows ? Having overheated in this years Edinburgh Marathon I will try anything, those last 5 miles were a living nightmare.
I will be heading back to the gym for some more weight training this Monday and I'm sure I will be stiff as hell for a few days afterwards again but I will be sticking with it.
The boxing is on tonight Haye V Harrison "best of enemies" and I'm almost tempted to watch it on Sky box office but at £14.95 they can stick it up their arse.
Just looking forward now to a brisk cold 20 miler early tomorrow morning, after a few beers tonight the run might start off a bit rough but as the miles tick by and plenty of fresh air is inhaled I have no doubt I will be in good shape by half way.
