I opted to get back to my training plans today and the session was a tempo run on the treadmill at 17.2km/h which I managed to do for 40 minutes the last time I tried this session. After an easy warm I hit the speed button and notched the speed up to the required 17.2 km/h after a few minutes of running and getting the odd twinge and ache from the sprained ankle I did start to think that I had set myself too much of a task. Slowly and steadily the minutes clicked away and after 30 minutes the initial difficulty and negative thoughts that I first had were replaced with thoughts of trying to match and even beat my last session at this speed, thankfully I managed to complete 42 minutes. I then did some weight training training to make up the training time and finally finished off with the sauna which was actually switched on this week and averaging 120 degrees, which was fantastic after suffering with the cold weather all this week.
The question now is whether I should risk venturing out on the icy roads for a twenty miler tomorrow, normally I would but after suffering with a sprained ankle all week the thought of going over on it again doesn't care thinking about.
