I have never really experienced an injury before and certainly not a chronic injury so I have never really thought that a Doctor or a Sports therapist could do much for me and imagined that they would just say rest it. Having heard plenty about other runners injuries over the years and how frustrating injuries can be, I wrote down anyone's telephone number that I thought would be useful one day if I was ever injured. Seeing as my injury didn't seem to be improving I decided to book an appointment with a Sports Therapist ( http://edprattsportstherapy.com ) to see what advice he could give me, not only did I receive some excellent advice and information I also had some work done on my ankle this week including some ultra sound. At the rate I was going I don't think I would of ever have got the ankle anywhere near back to normal and as a matter of fact I was making it worse. But now I'm on the right track back to recovery and this week improvements have definitely been made. So my advice if your injured and are unable to do your sporting activity is see a sports therapist, I just wish I took other peoples advice sooner.
I was supposed to be doing the Great North West Half Marathon this weekend at Blackpool, that plan might be out of the window but I will continue with the plan to travel over the border to visit my dad in Leyland, hopefully I might be able to manage a couple of easy miles on Worden Park on Sunday but only if it's pain free. In the mean time I will carry on with the cross training and just to make sure I'm still keen I will get to the gym extra early on Saturday morning before setting off on my travels.

I've been following your blog for a few weeks now and am pleased to see that you are on the road to recovery. It must be quite frustrating to have an injury that prevents you from running especially as you seem to have been so successful. Apart from a few aches and pains that I get from my running with no sympathy from my wife because, as she puts it, they're self inflicted, I hope that I'll be able to keep running injury free for as long as possible. Best regards for the recovery, John.
Cheers John.
I'm looking forward to joining yourself in some self inflicted pain.
