The comeback trail.

This come back trail is much tougher than I thought, I did manage to run 16 miles this morning at a steady pace but the last few miles were more like snail pace as my calf muscles started to stiffen up. On the bright side it's a big improvement once again from the previous week and their was also next to no pain in the ankle for the whole 16 miles, but the 26 miles required for the marathon in 5 weeks time is looking like a tall order even though I'm only using it as a training run.
The Thirsk 10 mile race in two weeks time is now well within my capabilities and if everything keeps moving along nicely as it is now with the training then I might as well try and aim for a sub 60 minute 10 mile which I would be more than pleased with.
With not being able to do much running for the past 12 weeks due to the injured ankle I made do with my old training shoes and I didn't give much thought into buying any new ones but now that I'm up and running again I'm keenly eyeing up some new training shoes. Seeing as I over did it slightly today with the mileage I will treat myself to a rest day tomorrow, I say rest day but that's only from running I will be cycling to and from work and the popping to the gym in the evening for some weight training. I have spent some serious time in the gym this year and even though I'm not fed up with it I will be glad to get back running, starting with the run to and from work Tuesday for starters.
