Dunn More Running.

The training is going really well at the moment but unfortunately the weight reduction scheme is failing miserably, that's two week in a row now that I have managed to loose exactly no weight what so ever. The mid week speed session on Wednesday was on grass with one minute of hard running uphill and a two minute twenty second recovery as a very slow jog back down the hill. I managed ten blasts up that hill and by the final one my leg muscles were starting to shake and seize up I would of liked to of done just one more but the old legs were having not of it.
Saturday I opted for a tempo session with the aim of keeping a set pace for as long as possible, I have managed an hour at the pace I selected in the past so I was quite pleased to of managed forty minutes and I made up the hour with a nice and steady final twenty minutes. I may of  put too much effort in for my liking as my legs muscles felt quite stiff afterwards, I usually try to avoid training to hard on the Saturday so it doesn't interfere with my long run on the Sunday.
Sunday - NYSD cross country race, Ampleforth trail race, Shaun Lee Johnstone race trail race, I would of been over the moon to of had a crack at any of them but if I'm going to get back upto speed then I will just have to stick with training for the time being. So long run it was with an eighteen mile route which includes four very long ascents three on road and one off road on the journey back. As soon as I set off my calf muscles felt very tender and they didn't get much better as the miles went but the need to build up some good old strength was more of a need than worrying about a few aches and pains. Two hours and eight minutes of torture later I had completed my task and could begin the process of convincing myself how much I had enjoyed it.
Next on the agenda in the running life is to attend the presentations for the Yorkshire Dales Race Series at the Blacksheep Brewery this afternoon, after winning the series for the last six years it was a bit disappointing to say the least to finish 4th this year but I still enjoyed the races non the less and a matter of fact I had some right old battles with some old rivals and new ones. Young Marc Scott of Richmond Zetland Harriers deservedly won the race series this year and will take some stopping in the future but I do like a challenge.
