Happy New Year.

It had been almost two weeks before I decided the time was right to get back into doing some training, I had pre-planned to go running with Phil Utley yesterday so I thought I had better do a nice and steady five miler on the Wednesday just to let my muscles know they had better prepare themselves for something more serious the following day. The rest from training had done wonders in getting rid of all those little aches and niggling pains but it didn't help my heart and lungs from feeling like they were about to pack in.
Thursday came and the weather looked to be quite good for this time of year so myself and Phil set off for a two hour trail run, after five miles or so I felt ok and a whole lot better than how I had felt the day before so instead of following the lower track round Sutton bank I opted to go round Gomire Lake and then head up the track to the top which must be well over a mile long. It didn't take long at all before that familiar though of what have I come this way for when it was going so well, Phil must of got a bit fed up with my slow pace and came past and instead of thinking I will tag onto the back of him I selected survival mode and slowly made my own way to the summit. The next couple of miles where relative flat which was lucky as my legs had started to feel more like wooden stumps than how they should of felt, as we descended to the village of Boltby our time spent running was 1 hour 50 minutes and with around 6 miles still left to run  there wasn't much chance of this run being completed in two hours unless we took a bus like that Sunderland runner at the Kielder Marathon. My cardiovascular system was working well and I still had no niggling aches or pains so it was a case of battling with my inner self to overcome the muscle fatigue as each mile appeared to be getting longer than the last. Finally we completed the run just over two and half hours later it might not of seemed like a good idea then but it starting to feel like it was a good idea now as I regain my ability to walk again.
Seeing as my legs were still trying to recover from yesterdays long run I thought I might as well go the gym and do some weight training so my upper body muscles can find out  how my legs muscles feel.
2012 is almost here and I would like to thank all those that took time to read my blog through my troubled and some what tedious year of 2011 and wish them all the very best for 2012.
