The Fountain Mud Flinger.

It was wet, muddy, hilly and a good day for me. For the first time this year i felt the running form from last year enter my veins at the Fountains 10k. I attacked from the start and by the first mile marker i knew it was going to be a good running day for me. By the time i reached the moor section i had a good lead and felt good enough to really attack this muddy bog hole. So i blasted straight on through everything in my way, even up to knee deep in one place , all that cross country racing had come in use at last. Off the moor and back on to the road i continued the hard effort all the way to the finish line. 33 minutes 49 seconds, twenty seven seconds faster than last year. Just the morale booster i needed. I couldn't of asked for a better start in the defence of the Blacksheep Series Championship. Roll on the Ripon 10 miler the next race in the series.
The club have got a training session with them RAF physical training instructors on Wednesday, so this old Spartan is looking forward to the battle ahead. They have planned a gentle warm up, followed by some hill training, a gentle jog for one and half miles along a river bank and then a fast return. I have decoded this to - A good hard warm up followed by many all out attacks up hill to wear the enemy down, then onto a one and half mile fast paced run to prevent any recovery and finally the winner takes all battle to the finish line. Oh! and not forgetting the fish and chip scramble afterwards.
