He's crashed, He's crashed, He's Crashed.

After spending all last night and this morning with no electric or heating I set off on my run to work and was faced with some severe compacted ice sections. The conditions underfoot were a lot worse than it had been for the past three weeks, after only a short distance I could see a light ahead and realised it was a bike and then I saw a body laid out next to it. On reaching the person they started to get up and after making sure they were ok I carried on sliding my way to work. After seven and half miles I reached work and with only hundred metres left to go then Bang, down I went, my right leg / ankle felt like it had broken. I got back on my feet and felt sick and dizzy which is a good sign of a serious injury, luckily after a few hours the pain subsided and I was left with pain only when walking. To be on the safe side I will take a rest from running tomorrow even though I doubt I will be able to run on it anyway. I knew I should of stopped in bed.
It's now 7.30pm and the electric has just come back on so it looks like the bad run of luck is coming to an end and it's also looking that my leg will be good to go by Wednesday, it had better be as I was on the verge of master minding my final ideas for the all new 2011 Battle Machine.

Really sad to read about your fall and electrical problems,Gary. Hopefully damage is only superficial but not good at all.
Take care out there!

Hey up, hope nothing too serious with your crash. Would not want to be on a bike in these conditions and hope the biker is ok. Think it's only slightly better on foot.

The slippery scale from my running experiences this year:
Soft snow - not too bad, ok to run
Compacted snow - quite slippy, take care, avoiding the more compacted shiny bits.
Wet compacted snow - very slippy, take even more care.
Visible ice - very very slippy, avoid and use treadmill.
Black ice - deadly, stay indoors or use treadmill.
Wet slosh - not too slippy but makes terrible running conditions, ruins your socks and shoes at worst.

Regards.

Thanks for the comments.
After risking running on ice without injury for so long I will now be asking myself if the gamble is worth it. My answer will be probably not.
