The Park Runner

It has been some time since my last competitive race and I have found it difficult to get some decent training done running wise but I'm now sure I am ready to run again. I have set myself a first goal of doing a Saturday morning 5km park run around mid November time. I have done a couple of runs during the past week and everything appears to be working normal, other than being along way off my best which is to be expected. I am feeling keen as hell now to see what I can do in the next 4 weeks in the run up to doing the 5k race, I won't be going mad just three good training sessions a week and nothing over 40 minutes as I certainly don't want that plantar fasciitis foot problem again.
The weight training and cross training at the gym have kept me occupied since June, that is until the last couple of weeks. I used to look forward to the weight training or cross training more than the running  but now I'm now more inclined to opt and look forward to a  good old interval training session on the treadmill.
I was thinking of doing a marathon a while back for charity, a marathon with no pressure and no flogging myself to bits and to raise a bit of cash but the problem with the plantar put an end that but maybe 2013 could be a reality. Any marathon would be good but deep down a return to Edinburgh would be at the top of my wish list especially after how well they treated me in the past. Early days yet but I do like to have a purpose to train.
