2 Slow

Nearly is just not good enough but I suppose it will do seeing as I'm an easing going sort of a chap. It was time for my next 5km time trial on the treadmill this evening so off I went to the gym to test out my new race kit and with a plan come target of finishing the 5k in 17 minutes 16 seconds. The first 5 minutes didn't seem too bad but when I cranked up the pace a tad after that for another 5 minutes it certainly got me working hard and then when I cranked up the pace another tad for a further 6 minutes it had me well and truly on the ropes. Entering the finishing section I still find  luckily that I can still crank the pace up for a strong finish by running the last 40 seconds on very little oxygen, which helped me finish in 17 minutes 18 seconds. Two seconds slower than my target and this time the tank was well and truly sucked in never mind empty. The 17 minute barrier is going to take some breaking down this time around that's for sure.
I have a thirty mile trek this Friday to look forward to nothing too hard so there should be no reason for me not to be running again come Saturday or Sunday at the latest.
The race kit passed with flying colours, maybe a touch too warm but that will be a benefit when it's next used outdoors.
