To PB or not to PB.

The new season of racing is well under way and with plenty of people bragging on Facebook about P.Bs they have achieved this weekend whilst I'm at the other end of the scale of just starting out. To go along with the P.B. morale boosting hype I did beat my 2016 P.B. training this morning by beating the only other training run I did a fortnight ago. Going off past years come backs I would have a guess at it being around May time before I can expect any half decent results and probably July time for peaking for this year.
Why I am stalling with entering races is beyond me, my initial plan of turning up too a race  in any old shape and just going with it for the enjoyment factor and with no interest on performance sounds like an absolutely great idea. Unfortunately I throw into the mix that I will miss the first months worth of races whilst I regain a bit more fitness and then I will might as well miss the month after that whilst I get a bit more training in. I will enter a couple of races this evening and then I will have no choice but to turn up.
The diet continues and is on par with that of 2014's comeback, it is just a Pity that I am quite a bit shy on my present fitness compared to then. Probably due to the fact I have been concentrating on getting the miles in and not bothering with any speed work. My mileage target this week was fifty miles and I was well on course by mid week and I was even looking good for sixty miles, a slight ankle injury mid week disrupted that plan and I have ended up at forty six miles which I am still happy with considering I only missed a couple of days.
The frosty icy mornings have finally turned up and now that they have I can't say its much better than the constant rain we kept having, it must be an age thing as I'm sure I didn't mind too much before whatever the weather.
If the roads don't get too icy this week I will try and hit that fifty mile target and hopefully on the weight loss front I can manage to knock another couple of pounds off. My good old running mate still has no intentions of a comeback and being ninety one years old in dog years I can't say I blame her. She still loves a long walk and a sausage at the cafe though.
I should really do another park run 5k to set myself a benchmark that I can work off for future reference Northallerton is a bit too muddy for consistency so it will have to be Fountains Abbey at Ripon I think.
