Victory at Burton Leonard.

Today was the Burton Leonard 10k, the race is multi terrain and quite undulating. You have just about no chance of setting your best time around this course but the Burton Leonard 10k does help in building up your strength. The next time you go to a 10k race which is all on road and flat will seem like a stroll in the park.
The Race - After having so much rain for the last few days there was a choice to be made, road shoes or multi terrain shoes. As there was a good chance of there being plenty of mud and water on the off road sections I opted for the well worn in road shoes with no tread what so ever. Luckily the right choice was made as the course was perfect during the race. I opted for a fast start up the hill in the knowledge of being able to get my breath back going down the long descent on the other side, by the time I crossed the bridge over the river I had a lead that I felt comfortable with and then it was just a case of trying to set myself a good hard even effort for the rest of the race in the hope of beating last years time. Yet again I slowed quite badly over the last mile and a half but on a course like that it was probably to be expected. I crossed the finishing line in 35 minutes 07 seconds approximately to take my first victory since May, with it being a Blacksheep Championship race as well made it a double delight. I was about 20 seconds slower than last year so I'm happy with that performance considering the training I have missed.
With the race being mainly off road my foot was just about ok, and no doubt will be fine for tomorrow. The decision now is whether to rest or run to and from work. The run to work is looking the more likely option.

Well done at Burtun Leonard after four weekends of racing. I've won there twice. I know it's a undulating off roader for most with that Ford to run through.
Yes, the Tweets tune drove me bonkers back then first time around. I hoping to get it on a continuous loop...might loose some followers though. Just fancied spicing it up a touch. Hope to get it right at Harrogate 10k this Sunday? See you at a race soon.
